    About me

I'm Patricia García, ceramicist in Blanc.

I enjoy creating timeless pieces, with clean and organic lines, using neutral tones to inspire the senses. My pieces are influenced by the minimalist aesthetic and my love for craftsmanship and design. My work aims to highlight the beauty of simplicity and the character of handmade objects by creating pieces that bring calm to their settings.

  • Neil Tòmas Smith

    Composer

Creatively I feel like I'm somewhere in the North Sea: floating in between Germany and the UK. I find the traditions of European modernism a constant source of inspiration, yet am keen to place these in new, sometimes irreverent, constellations.

  • Borja Moronta

    About

I am originally from Asturias, northern Spain, and settled in Edinburgh after graduating as an Architect in 2016 (Madrid Polytechnic University). Throughout university, I had big interest in different disciplines such as photography, ceramics or woodwork, and always felt drawn to that architecture which focuses on the materiality of the buildings.

My pottery practice began at the beginning of 2018, as part of a recovery process from a severe surgery due to nerve damage on his left hand. I joined Edinburgh Ceramics Workshop evening classes and soon became a member. Later setting up my own studio and focusing solely on my ceramic practice in late 2020.

Today, based in his Edinburgh studio, in Newhaven, I make ceramics that are a reflection of the states of mind I experience while working with clay and its physical processes: from the mindfulness of throwing, to the physicality of preparing clay or the natural slow pace behind the steps that clay follows to become a ceramic piece.

  • Bookbinding with Cass

“Creativity is about connecting – with ourselves, with each other and with the world around us. It’s about reflecting, playing, making mistakes and taking some time out to just be. It’s about the sense of satisfaction that comes from making and creating something that didn’t exist before.”

  • Jill m Boualaxai

I am a multimedia artist based at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, where my practice is rooted in a process-led exploration of the archaeological imaginary. My work revolves around creating mythological narratives that connect prehistory with contemporary society, often reimagining urban life and cultural phenomena. Using materials and processes like glass, bronze, and clay, I forge "fake" artefacts that challenge archaeological certainty, bridging ancient histories with present-day subcultures to provoke new interpretations of the past. My practice is diverse, with outcomes spanning a range of media, including sculpture, printmaking, painting, and performance.

I am currently the creative lead and visual art curator for the Hidden Door Festival and serve on its board of directors. As a founding member, I have helped shape the festival since 2010 into a dynamic platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and artistic experimentation. In addition to my art practice, I have a rich background in arts education. Following a two-year residency with George Watson's College in 2012, I established Look and Draw Workshops, which now offers a year-round program within The Heart of Newhaven Community. I have also led workshops at institutions such as the Leith School of Art, the National Galleries of Scotland, and Dovecot Studios, fostering an inclusive, process-focused approach.
