What Our Volunteers Do…

Warm Welcome
We want to reduce social isolation and give a Warm Welcome to everyone who visits The Heart.
This involves more than just a friendly greeting: we need people who can show our visitors around, help set them up with a tea or coffee, and sit around for a blether.

Lunch Club
We provide a free hot meal to anyone in the community, every Monday, 12:30-13:30.
The food is provided by an off-site caterer, but we need help re-heating, plating, and distrubuting the food. This is especially important for our visitors with mobility challenges.

Historial Tours
From the skeleton found in the playground, to the ghost in the attic, our building is packed with history!
If you have an interest in learning about historical Newhaven, and passing that knowledge on to others, we need you!

Gardening
Our Community Garden needs more than just watering and weeding!
We grow fruit and veg all year round, supports our Lunch Club and Dementia Meeting Centre. After most sessions, gardeners brew up a cuppa from garden herbs!

Admin Support
We operate with a skeleton staff, so always need volunteer support behind-the-scenes.
