Think Circus
Think Circus SCIO is a charity based in Leith, Edinburgh. We are a circus with a purpose far beyond the Big Top - our sessions share the wonder and creativity of this art form to improve the confidence, imagination and life prospects of children and young people. Social circus is a model used across the world which uses skills like juggling, hula hooping and acrobatics, in a positive and proactive culture. Established in 2017, we reach over 10,600 participants each year. As with music and dance, learning circus develops skillsets which can be used across all walks of life. One third of our youth circus participants are neurodiverse, and one quarter come from the most deprived areas in Scotland. We also support artists through mentorship and training, and create and produce touring circus shows.
Youth Classes - Spin, Twirl and Juggle with these fun and confidence building classes!
We offer classes for ages 5-8 and ages 8-11. If your child is aged 8 and have tried circus before, we recommend the older class. If your child is new to circus or you think a focus on fun and playfulness would be their priority right now, we recommend the younger class.
Classes are held on Tuesdays at 4pm and 5.15pm at Heart of Newhaven, with our next block starting on February 18th. For full details visit thinkcircus.co.uk/book
Community Juggle Jams - free open circus training at our friendly club. Whatever your level of circus experience, we have props to borrow and a warm welcoming atmosphere for you to try out new skills. Thursday evenings 6 - 8pm, from 9th January 2025 onwards.
Bring your own props if you have them. We have juggling equipment you can use if needed. Tuition not provided. Drop-in - no booking required. Donations are encouraged to cover hall hire but not required.
Teen Circus - build up your Teens confidence and skills with these inclusive drop-in sessions.
Fridays 3.00 – 5.00pm
Next block starts February 21st 2025
From 3:00pm-4:00pm teens can drop in, try new skills, practice or just hang out.
From 4:00pm – 5:00pm there’ll be games and exercises to help you get creative with your new skills.
