Laura Poppy Wright Taylor

Poppy is a Bespoke Coat Maker who has been working in London for the last 13 years and has recently relocated to Edinburgh.

Technical excellence in Bespoke Tailoring techniques means she works and collaborates with professional Cutters, Finishers and Pressers, to create one off pieces, using traditional hand tailoring methods, ensuring the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Her tailoring career began in the creative hub of the East End of London with Timothy Everest. This is where she completed her training in the skills of finishing, waistcoat making, and the highly skilled technical excellence of Coat-making to complete her apprenticeship.

Following this comprehensive training; as a freelance Bespoke Tailor, she went on to work on a range of projects within the realms of stage, TV, and Film, along with more traditional, Bespoke Tailoring projects, notably, including Huntsman of Savile Row, the Crown, Bridgerton, and Outlander.

Whilst working as a freelance practitioner, Poppy also lectured on the only Bespoke Tailoring degree in the UK, at the London College of fashion, UAL. It was here that her passion for teaching began. Creating value for society, the economy and environment by sharing specialist knowledge in learning and teaching to empower young people.

This new space at the Heart will formulate a synergy between Poppy’s professional practice, where she will teach the craft, as well as offer a space for fashion and costume creatives, to develop, and nurture their own practice, within a positive, supportive environment.
